It is quite possible to be a vegetarian and follow a healthy diet. It might interest you to know that a diet high in fruits and vegetables have been shown to reduce the risk of many diseases especially that of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and stroke.
It is important to ensure that you include high protein vegetarian foods such as dry beans, lentils and dairy products daily as most fruits and vegetables have little or no protein.
For weight loss, you need to make sure that you use low fat dairy products and use a minimal amount of oil in your cooking. It might also be worthwhile to contact a registered dietician in your area. Registered dieticians are experts in calculating and advising on an individual meal plan to meet your specific needs.
